What does Hunter style mean? - Tuscany Chicken Stew (Cacciatore)

Aggiornamento: 20 gen 2019

The chicken cacciatore is a traditional #Tuscan recipe, but also very popular across Italy and particularly in the northern/center area. It is a simple but incredibly tasty dish mainly thanks to ingredients like onions, tomatoes, bell pepper and red wine enhancing the flavour of the meat. The origins of this authentic speciality can to be found among poor people using simple ingredients. The recipe is so popular that it has its own national day on the 18th of April. “Cacciatore” actually means “hunter” in Italian and is commonly believed that the first cacciatore recipe had rabbit instead of chicken meat.
