Torta all’arancia

The orange cake is a sweet and fragrant dessert. Excellent for breakfast or a snack, this cake is easy and superb if made with Italian oranges.


¾ cup sugar for the cake and ¾ for the filling 1 stick melted butter 2 cups all purpose flour 3 eggs vanillin 1 tablespoon baking powder 1/2 glass milk zest of 4 oranges juice of 4 oranges

1 tablespoon all purpose flour

2 tablespoons icing sugar to garnish


In a bowl combine flour, sugar (3/4 cup), melted butter, eggs, milk, vanillin, orange zest and baking powder. Wipe with an electric mixer for 10 minutes and pour into a cake mold (10 inch round). Bake at 350 F for about 40 minutes in a preheated oven. Prepare the cream orange curd by boiling the orange juice with sugar (3/4 cup) and a tablespoon of flour in a saucepan. Cut the cake in a half and stuff with the curd. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
