Spaghetti with meatballs are a typical dish of Italian-American cuisine. The dish consists of spaghetti served with tomato sauce and meatballs. Although it is often considered a false Italian food, in southern Italy there are in fact several traditional recipes in which meatballs are used to season pasta with sauce or baked. The pasta shape used is generally the rigatoni not the spaghetti.
Here we show you a quick way to make meatballs in tomato sauce using a pressure pot.
INGREDIENTS (for 4 servings) 500 g ground pork and/or beef 1 cup Parmesan cheese 1 minced garlic clove 1 teaspoon chopped parsley 1 cup bread crumbs
1 egg ground black pepper and salt to taste
(for the tomato sauce) 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 1 chopped onion red chilli pepper and salt to taste 1 cap tomato sauce (400 ml)
½ cup red wine
PREPARATION Combine the meat with the parmesan cheese, the bread crumbs, egg, salt, pepper, garlic and parsley in a bowl. Mix through well and using hands roll the mixture into balls (ping-pong like). In the pot put tomato sauce, the wine, onion, olive oil, red chilli pepper and salt. Bring to boil and without the lead and place the meatballs in the hot sauce. Close the lid and bring to high pressure for 15 minutes. Let the pressure decrease before opening the pressure pot and serve over spaghetti, with sliced bread or with a side of vegetables for a Whole30 or Paleo healthy meal.
